1. Facebook Facelift - Home & Profiles
The Facebook Facelift is a self initiated project to challenge the form and functionality of Facebook. It's streamlined, structured, linear interface is more comprehendible, enhancing the user experience and absorbability of content.

The home page features many new benefits: the publisher toolbar enables users to post content from any page within Facebook, saving time in navigating needlessly through profiles; the streams' two-tiered filter (content type & content contributers) also creates a more coherent structure with the core elements retaining their position throughout most of the site; and the live feed displays a constant stream of all content posted in a users network, which expands upon mouse over.

Profiles also integrate with the system more seamlessly. Just as friend lists filter the stream by a select number of people, user profiles simply filter content to a single person, creating a clearer and more comprehendible layout.

  • How about a Facelift for Microsoft's website?! That's gotta be the ugliest pile of sh*t.
  • Barton Smith 2 years ago
do you expect anything more :)
  • Yeah but I mean, Facebook is kind of OK as it is now, where as Microsoft's site is pure crap. Why not try a facelift there instead? I love your Facebook Facelift, but I'm just saying that there're other huge sites that need a facelift even more (Microsoft).
  • Yeah, Microsoft do have really ugly sites, yes, more than one, they create for each product (or catogory) a new design. Only the title and logo (on most Microsoft-sites below the page) tells you that it is a Microsoft site, they need some consistent design. See bit.ly/97XEN1 for more info. They definitely need a redesign. They can start with the homepage and company info, those have also a different design. (Sorry for bad English)

GET FACEBOOK TO USE THIS. Then facebook would become a tool instead of the time sucking boogie monster that it currently is.

This looks absolutely amazing. Reminds me of the "skimmer" app for Facebook/Twitter.
  • Barton Smith 1 year ago
Indeed a big inspiration. Awesome app, but not without its flaws.

I like it, really clean and well designed. Facebook should adopt it and pay you handsomely.

I would come back to facebook if it changed to something more like this.

You could turn that into a user script for firefox users and I am sure there is something similar for chrome and opera users as well. Just IE would be left out but.... who cares about them!?

Please bring to facebook. It needs some eye candy and better UI. This is brilliant, exactly what Facebook needs.

What exactly did they call to say to you?
  • Barton Smith 1 year ago
Them: We like your work, we have a position, can you program?
    Me: No.
    Them: Damn.

    In essence...
  •
  • How can I get it?

Just out of interest how did you create this mock up. Did you actually create the sample HTML and CSS or use some form of design tool?
