Congress members are requesting that regulations for the dispersal of community development block grants be changed so that more victims are eligible for the aid that they need.

1:21 Waiver of Building Fees Extended
Mayor Bloomberg recently signed a bill that allows an extension beyond the original five days after Hurricane Sandy occurred, which covers fees involved in plumbing and electrical work.

2:09 City Gives Out New Hurricane Guides
New York City has released their updated guide called Ready New York: Hurricanes and New York City. This guide includes information on the revised evacuation zones, as well as information about emergency preparation.

3:12 Expired J-51 Program Extended
The J-51 Program, which allows tax credits for renovations made to multi-family residential units, was recently renewed after expiring December 31st, 2011.

4:00 Water Rate Hikes
On July 1st, the start of Fiscal Year 2014, a water rates hike of 5.6% was implemented. Here we give you estimates of what you can expect to pay for your monthly household water rate.

4:46 Outerbridge Crossing to be Resurfaced
Construction work has begun on the Outerbridge Crossing to New Jersey. Work will be ongoing through October of this year, and here we provide you with the times it will be closed to automobile traffic.

5:31 New Housing Construction
The New York City Department of Buildings released their report on permit approvals for June 23rd through June 29th. In total, ten new permits were approved on the north, west, and south shores for new homes.
