A documentary short about Gilbert, the Beacon Hill "town crier." For the last 9 years, since losing his job and becoming homeless, Gilbert has delivered the weather, sports, and breaking headlines from his spot on the Boston Common.

Music (used with permission) in this piece is called "Blue Bicycle" by Dusseldorf-based pianist / composer Volker Bertelmann also known as Hauschka.

Artistic Statement: This is the first in a series of profiles of people who I think are interesting, and who I see on almost a daily basis. I don't want to limit the series to people who live "on the fringe," but it would be appropriate to say that most of the people I interview are eclectic, eccentric, and just a little bit unique.

The art is in the viewing - but I hope to turn my lens on individuals that don't always color in the lines, whether they can help it or not.

Tech: This was shot on a Sony EX1, 1080p 30p with a Letus Extreme 35mm Lens Adapter. I had a Zeiss Planar T* f1.4/85mm lens with the aperture wide open. The piece was edited in Final Cut Pro and color tweaked with Magic Bullet Looks.

He seems like a great guy

Was actually brought here by the 85mm Nikkor Lens. I'm looking to buy one - Great DOF by the way! I really enjoyed this video. Glad I stumbled across it

Thanks Michael - I feel totally sheepish after doing some digging around - I went to find the link where I bought it and was confused that they don't sell Nikon lenses, and rather Zeiss lenses. Then I remembered that the mount to my EX1 is a Nikon mount (made by Letus). Stupid! It's a Planar T* 1.4/85 Zeiss lens, and it's amazing. Well built, sturdy, and hefty in the hand. Off to change the description...

That's where I face palm and shake my head.

haha it happens to the best of us

It's a really nice lens, a bit pricey for me though. I'm on a student budget which makes it a nightmare for equipment. It's all so expensive lol

I spent all the money I had a month or so ago on an Sgblade. Which is great, would have loved a letus adapter but I've got to try and save myself some money

Still buying the best equipment I can though, fast lenses are what I'm after just now - The amount of time I spend on ebay is unbelievable haha

You entered this in to any competitions? Documentaries like this usually do really well, I actually prefer this type to the ones with narration or a host
