Based in Charleville, South West Queensland, this highly respected bush band is now nearing its sixteenth year entertaining audiences from Charleville to Winton, Birdsville to St George, not to mention Dublin to Derry in Ireland.
This motley collection of local larrikins got together by accident at the Booga Woongaroo Festival in Charleville in 1991, and neither the band nor the district has fully recovered since. The aim of the band is to play music and enjoy it whilst trusting that the audiences will too.
The band members bring to the stage over 250 years experience living, working and playing in Western Queensland. The Ned and the Kellys play list features contemporary versions of Australian bush songs mixed with original material reflecting life in the modern bush. Our repertoire features, poetry, folk music, a generous smattering of pop and rock songs. Performances feature a blend of tin whistle, harmonica, banjo and mandolin, as well as the contemporary bass, electric guitar and drum sounds.
