In an effort to establish new platforms for public art and performance, the
multimedia duo SWEATSHOPPE has developed a new interactive technology that enables
them to explore the relationship between video, mark making and architecture. Dubbed
"video painting", this technology allows them to essentially "paint" video onto any
surface. Shooting in Queens, Brooklyn, and Manhattan, the duo spent weeks
documenting their work in urban settings to create "The Landing" the first in a
series of episodes that showcases their work as artist, technologist and performers.
This video shows 4 full uncut extra clips form the landing.

    Mad!
Are you seeing the future of graffiti/street art like this?
Not exactly with video painting, but with paint that actually is not "paint"? :)
  • SWEATSHOPPE plus 2 years ago
yes liquid video, brewed in a basement in virginia

  • Ah I was just out getting supplies to do something like this but just with real paint on paper, trace it on the wall, key the color, remove the paper and project - or project beside the color.

But this gets rid of the mess - nice job.

I can redo that audio on request david, make it ride a tangent and never get back to the origin. Making music is joyfull.

guys this is wicked, it would be cool if you could key different colours to different videos, you could do some cool narratives with clever reveals...you could even map colour and location to sounds/volumes/samples...goodness my brains going into overdrive!

Wow. Okay. This is giving me ideas.. ones you've almost certainly thought of. If your recording rate on your camera matched the frame rate of the video playing, it'd look super totally smooth, even though the person "painting" would be hummingbird speed.

This was a seriously sweet idea. Great job!
