Take a look at Joshua Ledet performing It's A Man's Man's Man's World by James Brown on American Idol Season 11. Featuring great animation work by Keith Sands and the rest of the team at V Squared Labs.
Together with this amazing team I have been lucky enough to stun viewers of American Idol as Creative Director for the top-rated show’s 11th season.
Being fairly new in the television industry, this was an incredible opportunity in which I learned more then ever before.
Working with an elegant, yet epic set designed by frequent VSL collaborator, Heather Shaw of Vita Motus, the VSL team has employed many of its standard 3D mapping tools and techniques, in addition to developing some new resources specifically for the show.
Together with the award winning choreographer team Nappytabs (Napoleon and Tabitha D’umo) I was in charge of enhancing the contestant songs choices with immersive visual backdrops.
These backdrops or “looks” were created at a enormous resolution (14600 * 1752) and at a even more mind-boggling time-constraint.
But together with these great 2d and 3d Animators, support on set, sweat, tears, and tons of coffee I am very proud of the end-result that was ultimately viewed by millions and millions of viewers at home.
Thanks to: Keith Sands, Jordan Halsey, Dustin Highbridge, Josh Crews. Ergin Kuke, Dave Beamer, Bronic Bednarek, Art Perez, Micheal Morales, Ken Warwick, Nygel Lytgoe, Napoleon and Tabitha D'umo, Patrick Lynn, Matt McAdam and all others that have worked on this stressful but rewarding show.
