"Conjure Bearden" was made as a background piece for the "Conjuring Bearden" exhibition at the Nasher Museum of Art at Duke University in 2006. The footage was shot 1936 to 1942 by H. Lee Waters in Chapel Hill, Kannapolis, and Troy, all in North Carolina. With the help of Scott Wells I made the silent cut, and Anthony Kelley scored it. For more information on Waters see my short documentary "The Cameraman Has Visited Our Town" streaming on folkstreams.net.
