16. Gandhi's Ideals in a Bethlehem Cafe
The documentary Encounter Point takes a direct, honest approach to the Palestinian-Israeli conflict that lacks the sugar-coated enamel of many peacekeeping portrayals. Through the participants of the Bereaved Families Forum, you experience the difficult dialogue taking place between individual Palestinians and Israelis who lost loved ones, cry, and find hope in the possibility of common people reaching out and changing the situation by sharing their stories -- and their pain -- with each other.

In this scene from the film, Ali Abu Awwad, whose brother was killed by Israeli soldiers, speaks with young Palestinians about using a new approach to the problem. He looks to Gandhi's model of non-violent resistance as a chance to change the course of action.
