Sam (a fairy tale) is a loose adaptation of the Grimm Brothers' "Tale of the Golden Bird," only it doesn't look like most fairy tale adaptations you see on television. It's set in the world we know: one with awkward moments and bad temp jobs, sexual misadventures and real human emotions. Our hero isn't very heroic: he's a single, unemployed actor; his princess is a geeky, slightly neurotic ex-girlfriend; and his loyal companion is an odd-bird roommate who loves bad reality television. But hero or not, our protagonist finds himself on a quest -- a journey that forces him to decide, as we all must at some point, what sort of person he really wants to be.
