The second of a series documenting the WWII wrecks of Savo Sound - also called Ironbottom Sound, after the number of ships sunk during the fierce fighting of the Solomon Islands campaign.
Azumasan Maru (吾妻山丸) was built in 1933, and requisitioned as a auxiliary transport at the outbreak of the Japanese Pacific war. She was sunk off Bonegi Beach, Guadalcanal, by dive bombers, while unloading supplies in October 1942.
Filmed using a Sony NEX-5n with 10-18mm lens in a Nauticam housing and twin Mangrove video lights.
