Titles and content graphics for BBC ArtWorks Film, telling the story of Gerry Rafferty’s life. Narrated by David Tennant, with contributions from friends and colleagues including Billy Connolly and John Byrne.
The look was created by taking Rafferty’s famous album covers, illustrated by Byrne, and transforming them from 2D into 3D by cutting them into layers within Photoshop and then bringing into After Effects and animating in 3D space. This added motion and depth to the original still images, and allowed punctuation of the footage and stories using Rafferty’s own music and artwork.
