“The Colours of Sarajevo” is the meditation on the city I come from. The city that lost its many citizens went through very hard and soul-destroying times, is now, 20 years later, still fighting for itself. Since the war, Sarajevo has been a city of statistics – we’ve used numbers to count the dead, the raped, the missing, the injured, the numbers of my generation who left, and the numbers who returned, or who didn’t. The numbers of children born to each religion, and the amount of money taken in corruption. By looking at a different number, the number of colour, this work is an attempt to heal the city and give it a new kind of statistics. It’s an attempt to return to the basics, just colour and light.
