For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith—and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God— 9not by works, so that no one can boast. 10For we are God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do. (Ephesians 2:8-10, NIV)
In this study, we are going to define, and seek proper understanding of what grace is. Note that we are not talking here about salvation even though we may mention it as a consequence of grace received. But our primary objective is to get an understanding of that grace which the Bible says brings salvation. If we can understand what grace is, does, and produces in the life of the believer, we can also get a proper understanding of Salvation. The Bible clearly says that it is by grace that we are saved (Eph. 2:8-9) so a proper understanding of grace is important for a proper understanding of salvation.
