Some clever commenter called this "Stuck In Motion." I like it, so it stuck! hehe... Anyway, I did a full explanation of how I made this video at stuckincustoms.com/stuckinmotion/

I also have a popular HDR Tutorial ( stuckincustoms.com/hdr-tutorial/ ) on the site, if you are into photography!

Love your work mate, absolutely stunning. I'm guessing you shot this in quite a high frame-rate, what camera did you use?

Hi Trey. This is absolutely fantastic work, simply beautiful; I wonder how much footage you shot to get these sequences? But what to call it? I just did a bit of googling to find the definition of a "moment" and apparently it's a medieval term meaning one and a half minutes, but that seems far too long! However, there is also a definition for an "ounce" of time, which is a twelth of a moment or 7.5 seconds and that sounds spot-on to me! Being British, the idea of an ounce of time really appeals to me - start the revolution Trey, bring back Imperial units now! So I can't really tell you what it should be called, but it must have something to do with ounces, that much I do know. By the way, I make that 50 scenes in 286 seconds, so at 5.72 seconds per scene we are a bit short on the ounces!! :-)

Ya know, I really enjoyed that. But the video just looks shot-to-hell. And it was aged by the kidn of 4:3 ratio going on. I look forward to see more of you're stuff!

After watching your piece, I feel you should call it: Hosu (ho - suu) which is Japanese for 'number of steps'
Everything feels like progression of some kind to me.

I dig Ahart's name for it. (Hosu)

My personal vote "MIL" from Moments in Life.
Your video reminded me of a track form the 80's by a group called Art of Noise. The song? "Moments in Love"

    Nice work!

I enjoyed this piece very much. Want to call your technique "Ongoing going on." Or "Decelerating Impact Montage." Or perhaps "Progressive Deflection Shooting."
    Thanks for posting this!

Best parts of the clip is when you shot from a train or scooter, which almost gives it two different feelings of speeds.

    Beautiful! And about Japan ^_^
BTW, i've seen another example of similar technique: vimeo.com/2910103
Author calls it "slow motion" but it seems to be more of that thing you're trying to name, i think.

i like the fast moving shots from train and car combined with the slow motion, creates a nice effect. The rest is just nice extreme, albeit not very high resolution slow motion. Which plug in did you use for this? Twixtor?

Hey thanks everyone for the very interesting comments... I like how people are guessing and whatnot - I'll expose everything soon. A few photography shows have asked me for exclusives - so we will see. It's 50% equipment and 50% technique. And 100% cheap! :)

It is very exciting to see when stills and motion worlds merge - not collide. Love your work.

Some shots have a lot of compression in them - is that due to the camera, or did that happen during compression for Vimeo?

On some shots the strobing is distracting, but on others it is simply beautiful.

As for names, maybe "time expansion"?
