When I was a twelve year old kid growing up in Maine, I got fishing fever when the stripers ran up the Androscoggin River in the spring. We caught them on leadhead bucktails off the rocks in back of the Topsham Fire Department. My Mother, artist Alicia J. Stonebreaker, would often paint the fish I brought home. Our Gallery is pleased to exhibit two vibrant watercolors Alicia painted of three Brook Trout and two Tinker Mackerel. The skin of a fish, particularly trout and mackerel, are bursting with colors, hues, and luminescence. Luminescence is an emission of light, a form of cold body radiation through chemistry. A perfect subject for an artist to capture the wonder and beauty through their artwork.
