Do you have a melody that lacks a bit of life? Or maybe you want to create a lead-in to a new section with your bass line? In our latest Ableton Live video tutorial, Liveschool trainer George Nicholas takes you through a simple and effective technique taking advantage of Ableton Live's Chord MIDI device, and most importantly its often over looked velocity controls.

This is a subtle and original twist on the classic method of using the Chord plug-in, which on the surface is not a necessarily flexible device. With a bit of experimentation this little trick can get you some really immediate and interesting results.

If you're looking to up your production and songwriting game, take a look into the 'MUSIC THEORY: For Electronic Music Production' course here at Ableton Liveschool in Sydney. It covers all the essential techniques and concepts for making and understanding electronic music, cuts out all the irrelevant theory and arms you with skills to improve the impact of your tunes.
Next intake: 14th Oct. 2013.
