Reverse Shadow Theatre
Reverse Shadow Theatre is an installation created with the Animata real-time animation editor.
Wayang Kulit is the indonesian shadow puppet theatre, in which finely carved and painted leather puppets move behind a screen making the audiance see their shadows only. In our installation the situation is reversed. The role of the elaborate puppets is emphasized, while the visitor is a mere shadow trying to control the puppets by her movements.
Credits:
Bence Samu - animation, video documentation, programming
Peter Nemeth, Gabor Papp - programming
Agoston Nagy - sounds
Reverse Shadow Theatre and Animata were developed in Kitchen Budapest in 2007-2008. For more information please visit animata.kibu.hu and kibu.hu.

we use eyesweb for motion tracking. then we use processing to modify the points coming from eyesweb, because the proportions of the users differ from the proportions of the puppets. at 1:40 you can see our setup. eyesweb is in the top-left corner, the acquired skeleton is in the top-right, animata and processing at the bottom.
do you "rig" the video in eyes web?
the osc messages are described in this mailing list post: lists.kitchenbudapest.hu/cgi-bin/mailman/private/animata-users/2008-April/000015.html
what do you mean by rigging the video? animata works with images and skeletons attached to them. we tried to made the control system really simple. you can animate the bones of the skeleton to make the puppets move. and of course, you have to tell processing or vvvv which part of the motion capture data should be sent to which bone by naming the bones and sending osc messages by name.
