This is a ten day matte project I wanted to make incorporating live footage and 2D projection. The concept is that after a large earthquake, a split in the shoreline has caused an opening in the bedrock. The ocean begins spilling into the caverns below, creating a new coastal waterfall.
I took footage with my iPhone while biking along the Santa Monica beach path, and tracked it in Nuke. I created the matte paintings in Photoshop using several angles, and projected them in Nuke. The waterfall was taken from stock footage. The sky was also replaced in Nuke, as well as all of the color correcting. All in all, it was a 100% pretty OK time.
