It's hard to address a sensitive issue like child abuse, but Franklin Nzao is determined to make his community in Kenya a safer place for young people. His project both empowers children and educates adults about children's rights.

"The Poor Flowers of Kilifi County" was produced during a five-day "Africa Regional Digital Storytelling Workshop" sponsored by the Kennedy-Lugar Youth Exchange and Study Program (YES). Twenty-one YES alumni, representing 13 African countries, met in Accra Ghana May 22-26, 2013 to enhance digital storytelling, photography and social media skills.
