ZM8 Solo - vs Kam'lanaut - FFXI - Oliveman

More
The Infamous Oliveman has arrived. Enjoy.
Me beating Zilart Mission 8. The video opens with the journey to the top of Delkfutt's tower, intermixed with clips of some of the nearly 20 battles I attempted against Kam'lanaut. While I did win on RDM/NIN, many of the fights, including one to 20% hp, were done on RDM/BLM
To create the final strategy I used to beat him, it took a long time of drawing up charts, fiddling with my calculator, and so on. As I discovered places to improve upon my strategy, I, over the course of my many battles, got merits and new equipment.
For all those who are interested, here were my significant stats:
MERITS
Enfeebling Skill 7/8
Convert Recast Down 4/5
Ice Magic Accuracy 3/5
INT 1/5
Elemental Skill 1/8
NO MERITABLE RED MAGE SPELLS USED
KEY EQUIPMENT
Aquillo's Staff (bought for fight)
Jupiter's Staff (bought ff)
Uggalepih Pendant (bought ff)
Ocean Rope (bought ff)
Enfeebling Torque (bought ff)
3/5 relic gear (no hat or body - had before I started)
CONSUMABLES USED
Yagudo Drink x8 (10 bought)
Echo Drop x8 (24 bought)
Cherry Muffin +1 (+2 INT, 10% mp+)
Hi-potion +2 and 3 x3 (5 bought)
As you can see, I'm not the most tricked out red mage - it was all about the technique in this fight.
As a note, I did use windower, but I didn't do any of that stupid equip swap hacking stuff. Everything I do is purely in the macros. All 4 rows of them.
ENEMY PROFILE
Name: Kam'lanaut
Occupation: Red Mage
Battle Techniques: Uses En- spells that also give him an absorb effect for that element. Also uses slowga, silencega, and dispelga, all of which go through utsu shadows and still take effect. Other than that, he hits hard, his unblocked damage going frequently above 250 with his en spell active. Can Double Attack.
HP: 10,000
The battle itself was 27 minutes 32 seconds long, began on iceday, and ended on lightningday. This was to get the elemental bonuses of those days for my nukes. In this final strategy, as you'll see, I kept DoT on him as much as possible, and was able to fit in 2 converts into the 30 minute battle.
The music in the video is mostly from Final Fantasy VII, with the exception of the openning, which comes from Carl Orff's Carmina Burana - O Fortuna.
After 3 months and nearly a million gil trying to beat this fight, I finally bested the mighty Kam'lanaut. It was a glorious victory indeed.
Enjoy the video!
