I remember Karen Gross from the WHERE Magazine days. I also remember her first cabaret, “Sex and the Single Singer”! It’s amazing how REP RADIO has hit THE BIG APPLE and we continue to run into Philly natives. Guess, we’re taking over the “City that never sleeps”! So, I reconnected with Karen at the Times Square Art Center during a rehearsal for her next show, “Cabaret Mixtape”. We wax nostalgic about the days when a cassette was a symbol of affection. Stay Tuned!

Before the age of iTunes, cassette mixtapes served as the soundtracks of our lives: diaries of love, friendship, heartbreak, adventure and musical discovery. Created with care, and shared with our friends, boyfriends and girlfriends, mixtapes were filled with songs that made us laugh, cry, dance and sing along. From Broadway to Britney, singer-songwriters to the American songbook, ’80s lite rock to Lilith Fair, Karen Gross revisits and reimagines the songs, the stories, the memories: the mixtape.
