This short film shows a demonstration in Leeds against the deportations of two asylum seekers, Josephine and Linda.
Josephine, a teacher in Sierra Leone, was forced to perform Female Genital
Mutilation on girls in her community by the community elders. She
describes how her hands were shaking in horror at what she was being
forced to do.When she returned to Sierra Leone in 2005 she was forced to
perform FGM on the 4-year old daughter of her deceased sister. After the
trauma of that experience she refused to inflict this torture on anyone
else. Her brave defiance made her a victim of torture at the hands of the
elders and she had to escape to Britain to be live in safety.
Linda was expelled from school in Uganda because she is a lesbian and was physically attacked, beaten, sexually harassed and tortured by people who think homosexuality is a sin.
Both women face deportation. Borders kill, migration is not a crime!
