Sound installation in a boxcar
The exceptional sound environment in an old boxcar presented by the soundartist Gammon focuses on the subjective perceptions of the visitor by making it experienceable in an interactive sound installation.
“The well-tempered tunnel” refers to the architectural and acoustic nature of the Arlbergtunnel. The abandonment of any visual stimulus in the dark interior space of the boxcar puts the focus on hearing and feeling.
The movements of the visitors influence the soundscape, which in turn varies and is perceived by moving through the soundscape.
Thus the fusion of sound and movement changes both sound space and perception and makes the actual artwork arise at this present moment.
