    McAllen isn't really crazy man. All the drug/criminal stuff related to Mexico goes down behind the scenes... I grew up in Harlingen (so did Reyna) which is like 40 minutes from McAllen. The valley is hellla chill without question... you got to visit sometime and experience it yourself!
