The Global Education First Initiative panel featured Jan Eliasson, Deputy Secretary General of the UN, Anita Mohammed, Special Adviser to the UN Secretary-General on Post-2015 Development Planning, Martha Kanter, US Under Secretary of Education, and Irina Bokova, Director-General of UNESCO. The focus of the panel was the global learning crisis and gap between skills being taught in skills and skills needed for the workforce, especially for new industries. Education is the key to the development and advancement of societies and activation of young people, and thus needs to be prioritized as a fundamental human right at the center of sustainable development.
