The people kept on streaming into Thomson Memorial Park (Lawrence Ave. E. and Brimly Rd.) despite the rain clouds, for the 13th annual Ford Fest, sponsored by Mayor Rob Ford, Coun. Doug Ford and the Ford family, on Friday, July 5, 2013. It was a wonderful mix of young and old, couples and families - the essence of what Toronto is all about. Thousands of people enjoyed the festive atmosphere with music, carnival rides, free burgers (5,000 were consumed and thousands more were rushed in), beer and wine but above all, the opportunity to meet their mayor. Mayor Ford shook hands and posed for photographs well into the night. The people had a chance to speak with the mayor about their points of view.
Toronto Singer Jenny James and her band members including Paul Cafarelli, Amy Easton, Dave Bayley, Minas Hatzigiannatzoglou, Brian Mann, Andrew McMullen, Paul Chalmers, provided the musical entertainment during the evening. The highlight was her song "The World Will Remember".
The mayor reiterated his promise to bring in subways. Councillors Doug Ford, Frances Nunziata, Norm Kelly and Raymond Cho were in the crowd along with
Transportation Minister Glenn Murray. The crowd was enthusiastic and showed their support. It was an interesting event and this video shows some of the activities from that day.
