Chris Humphreys is a triple threat. He can write, he can act — and he can fight.
His new novel, Shakespeare's Rebel, tells the story of John Lawley, Shakespeare's real-life fight choreographer. But he didn't want to launch it with just another pub party or bookstore appearance — he wanted to make it memorable. He teamed up with Acadamie Duello, a western martial arts school in downtown Vancouver, to put together "an evening of swords and words." The program featured readings from the new book, some historical context on swordplay in Shakespeare's time — and of course, plenty of swordfighting.
Check out the video above for some footage from the event, and to hear Chris explain why we still find swords fascinating today.
