With the weather flipping from heavy showers to scorching, the FC ladies kept their cool to overcome Mossley Hill.
The 2-0 scoreline probably flattered the Reds a bit, but any thought of the girls taking it easy on their Merseyside counterparts, were smashed in the 11th minuted when Kirsty Chambers drilled home a wonder strike.
Neither side went too close from then until late on in the game, when the home side hit the bar.
But it was all undone for them when, after their keeper wiped out a backtracking defender, Beth Tattersall was left with the ball two yards out and the easiest goal chance for the whole season.
