On one of three overnight sampling trips 14 miles off Bermuda on Challenger Banks looking at the sargasso sea at night we slipped away form the main expedition boat and drifted back into the dark to look for fish and saragssum.
The water was perfectly flat allowing us to see many of these tiny fish in situ surprised by our lights - the stillness also allowed for tiny pieces of plastic to float and settle on the surface - easily evident in the dark lit up by our torches.
