Britain's great gardens are among the glories of our countryside. But how much did they cost to build and maintain, who supplied their plants and equipment and what was involved in maintaining, managing and staffing them? This lecture, based on original records, is a further contribution by the Provost to the economic history of British gardening.

The transcript and downloadable versions of the lecture are available from the Gresham College website:gresham.ac.uk/lectures-and-events/making-and-running-great-gardens-1700-1900
