56. Mozzelle

A short that I was the DP for two years ago, when I just started learning about filmmaking. I think this was the second or third project that I ever DPed for. This is pretty old, and I just found it on my hard drive so I thought I'd put it up.

The story of two brothers. Starts at 0:11, I don't know why there's so much black in the beginning.

Wow. I really got taken by the story. Loved the dialogues, and the actors were really great ! Very good job Karen ! How old were you two years ago ? I'm impressed by your maturity :)

oh, and could you explain me the title ? Is it the grandma's name ?
  • Two years ago I was 20, months before I made this was when I decided I wanted to try doing video. I'm a late starter. Sometimes I wish I could've been doing video earlier, but then again everyone wishes that.

This ( vimeo.com/374337 ) was the first video I made in December '05...really embarrassing. The spring after that was when Mozzelle was made (Yeah Mozzelle is the Grandmother's name).

I really enjoyed film so I kind of caught on and taught myself a lot. I'm still learning. There's so much to learn.

    I really like the music.

    Who is it by?
  • Our friend Corey Weaver, he used to be in a band called Cains & Abels then he went on to do solo work under S. American Agriculture. I have some of his music if you would like it I can send it to you.. IM me at SonicAppleseed (the music in this film is original stuff that he made for it, so it's not on a cd but his other stuff is real good)

    wonderful, but kinda sad
  • It's happy, their relationship is reconciled through the passing of their mother.

It was her time anyways, it's alright.

    haha.

Nice work, Karen. The film gave me a lot to think about. The actors were so good, too.
  • Yeah I think since I've made film, though this may not be the best cinematographically, they were the best actors.

    :-)

    Thanks hun.

Karen, this is very strong for the first film. Mostly it filmed by style documentary, I'm impressed with it.
Not everywhere like. But history is generally good and natural.
  • Oh wow thank you. That really means a lot coming from you, I respect your work so much.
