This summer the Curated Place welcomes US artist Jason Hackenwerth to create six new public realm commissions for Manchester’s urban gardening and greening festival Dig the City. Taking place in Manchester between 3 – 11th of August 2013, Hackenwerth’s sculptures will be created in collaboration with the Curated Place crew as the centrepieces to the summer city-wide celebration of everything green-fingered.
Made possible by the Heart of Manchester BID the series, entitled Dance of the Honey Bee, will be ambitious and huge in scale: three stunning sculptures will launch the festival on Saturday 3 August in Manchester’s Exchange Square and New Cathedral Street, then three more will be created as the festival takes place, being raised into place on the morning of the 8th August to mark the coming of the second weekend of festival events.
Exploring the natural balance between humans and our effect on nature, Dance of The Honey Bee is an exciting two part project created especially for the inaugural urban greening event and realised through the Curated Place productive residency approach.
