32. IN THE WOOD! - Canon EOS 7D

Filmed in the German "Pfälzer Wald" nearby Edenkoben - looking for sweet chestnuts (or in German "Keschde")!
This is a first test with my brandnew Canon EOS 7D... I really love the look of these takes, but for my next session I will definitely use stabilization equipment.

When are you going to join the Glidetrack club? It would sort your stabilisation probs! That said, i actually like the hand held look, gives it a touch of the super 8 look.
I'm on my way to the Glidetrack club... I'm short before the entrance... ;-))

2. Scheint schon recht herbstlich in der Heimat zu sein ;-)))
3. Haste Dir also die neue 7D geholt ;-)))
4. Ruckeleien sind mir auch keine ueblen aufgefallen. Passt alles einwandfrei zu der action-betonten Kamerafuehrung ... keineswegs stoerend. Aufgefallen ist mir allerdings ( nicht nur bei diesem sondern bei den meisten Filmen, die neuerdings mit manuellen Linsen gemacht werden ), dass der "Out of Focus"-Effekt ein wenig uebertrieben wird. Mag aber einfach auch nicht mein Geschmack sein oder besser ... sparsam eingesetzt kann dieser Effekt cool wirken. Der Film hier bewegt sich so gerade am Limit finde ich aber bei manchen anderen Werken is inzwischen schon fast nix mehr scharf ;-)))
Ansonsten wie gesagt ... ausgezeichnetes Filmchen !!!

4. Ich geb' Dir vollkommen Recht. Ich sehe es auch so, dass das Video an der Focus-Effekt-Schmerz-Grenze ist, aber ich wollte es einfach mal ausprobieren... Und das mit einer Hand am Focus und mit der anderen an der Kamera, ohne dabei zu sehr zu wackeln... ist mir zwar einigermaßen gelungen, aber wie gesagt, das nächste Mal nur noch mit Stabilisierung...
In Tokyo ist es immer noch sommerlich? Ich muss da dringend auch mal hin... es wird einfach Zeit!

Beautiful DOF, colors and positions. The problem is only the wobble effect because the CMOS. Especially in 02:22 and 04:11.

Light weight Gitzo or Manfrotto trekking tripod + fluid head = good value for 7d, coupled with EF-S IS 17-55mm & Zacuto Z Finder. Use this rig as a brace for more dynamic hand held shots.
I want chestnuts now.

One question: did you stabilize it with the Steady Cam filter of FCP? I think I recognize the strange wobble because of that. Or is it the 7D itself?
stabilized shots is the way to go with CMOS. Hope to see more from you! Thanks!

Any specific reason why the 7D and not the 5D?
And was this shot fully automatic or did you use manual focus? Curious.
I've yet to try one of these beasts myself. Stabilizers definitely a +.
This is gonna be one those family keepsake I'm sure. :) Well done!
I've bought the 7D because it has 25/50fps modes and I don't like to convert too much, because my other cam is a Sony with only 25/50 modes. Often I want to combine footage from both cams easily.
I've tried several settings... regarding the focus there is no continuous autofocus. So you have to correct it manually, as long as you need it - this a little bit tricky.
Finally I'm very happy with the 7D!
