Paul Albert on chronic disease and social networks
2 months ago
On October 7, I had the pleasure of giving a presentation to a tri-chapter meeting of the Medical Library Association. The topic was why some patients with chronic disease are disaffected and how online social networks have met some of their needs. I try to offer a balanced perspective – both the good and bad of online social networks.
The live presentation was filmed but the room was a bit on the dark side. So, despite a laudable job filming by my colleague, Judy, I decided to put up a slideshow with voiceovers.

1 month ago Thank you Paul. I, and am sure many others dealing with chronic illness and misdiagnoses now have access to information which is unprecedented in history. This has led to a tremendously empowered community and has enhanced our ability to search out formerly inaccessible information pertinent to our illnesses. I know this makes the established conventional medicine groups more than a little nervous and defensive.
