Electronic devices such as computers, power transformers, mobile-phone transmissions, give off fluxuating electromagentic fields that can be played as micro-landscapes of sound. The most present of these emissions is the 50Hz tone of the electrical power infrastructure.
Signal-to-Light is a series of performances using a sound and light translation system for playing the electromagentic aether, enhanced by an exploded electric infrastructure of incandescent light bulbs and wires surrounding the performer with 50Hz AC mains power. An unstable feedback loop is created between the emissions of the bulbs and wiring, electromagnetic signal receivers, and signal-to-light translation software.
