The Parks Climate Challenge is an innovative program designed to inspire urban youth to serve as climate change ambassadors for the national parks to their home communities.
Diverse, urban high school-aged youth who demonstrate leadership potential and reside in one of five selected cities around the country will visit North Cascades National Park from June 29 - July 31, 2009. During the Parks Climate Challenge, the students will progress from studying climate change in the field to developing ideas on how to engage other youth in climate change awareness to designing a service project in their own communities that will allow them to turn their concern for the future of the environment into action.
The Parks Climate Challenge is a program produced in partnership between North Cascades Institute, National Park Foundation and North Cascades National Park. More info at ncascades.org/programs/youth/climate_challenge/ and a multimedia piece produced by all the students is at vimeo.com/6180589
