I feel very excited to be able to share this story with my family. I know that my parents will be pleased to see these photographs, and it will make them remember how hard they struggled to be able to build a life in this country. I hope that other people can identify with this idea that Queens contains a little piece of their homeland, that you can build your home wherever you are.


I search for my destiny in New York, just as my father looked for his when he migrated to California. When he came to the United States, he only carried the minimum needed to survive. I decided to do the same when I fled to New York. Now every time I see a cab I remember my dad, as he was a driver in Mexico City.
