  • only watched half so far, but I had to stop it to say excellent job. Just got my 7D yesterday...once I figure out how to use it, this footage inspires me to get better. What did you use to capture audio?
  • Ray Roman 1 month ago
Thank you! I used the Edirol R-44 (Field Recorder) for all the audio.

This is awesome. Just enjoy the whole film. I feel the warmth of the wedding. I love the colors. Nice settings after all. I believe You guys are definitely enjoying the 7D at the moment.

Some little questions out of curiosity. Do you change or have a special configuration for you 7D picture style or are you using the standard mode?

Are the shots mostly used in the prime zeiss lens?

Would you be keen to share some little breakdown of informations of lens used in this piece. Especially how much of it was from the 7D and what lens was used.

    Thanks in advance.
  • Ray Roman 1 month ago
Thanks Danial! We just used the stock settings for the 7D (we had just received the cameras the day before). I mentioned the lenses used in the description above.

  • Hey there Ray, this is exactly what I am talking about. Practically everybody in the wedding video industry in my city (Montreal) have been insisting that shooting a wedding video with the Canon 7D alone is impossible and I have been saving up to prove them wrong. One question, how did you feel and manage about switching lenses constantly?
  • Ray Roman Films plus 13 days ago
It's not too bad..I'm either long or wide most of the time.

    Hi Ray !
Great shots. Your work inspired me to buy 7D :)
I can`t believe that you shot with only 3 camera.
Looks like you used 5 :)
    Simple but beautiful !
  • Ray Roman Films plus 13 days ago
Thanks Demir. Anytime you vary up your shots, it will look like more cameras. Just pan into the audience when you have the chance, so you can have something to cut in (like I did in this clip)..

    Great stuff, Mr. Roman.

Does FCP7 have any playback issues with the 7D footage? I have FCP6.0.6, and - when handling 7D footage - it drops frames constantly and always on the cuts, which makes seeing your edits impossible. It's terribly frustrating, but if FCP7 does fine, I think I'll be upgrading soon.

    Thanks
  • Ray Roman Films plus 13 days ago
    Hi Greg,

I actually convert the useable footage through Compressor and it works great in FCP. You will notice the playback issues with the 5D/ 7D in both FCP 6 and 7.

awesome footage, editing, colors, the works. . .

got to ask though, for any handheld shots, was IS on or off for any of the lenses used?
  •
  • Ray Roman 16 hours ago
No Handheld. Usually on either a monopod, tripod or steadicam. I always tend to have the IS turned on with the 70-200mm lens that I own. Thanks!!

Hey Ray, I thought Joe Simon was great. Man, you've found a way to top him and have a unique style. WOW! And you used to be a police man! I would love to attend any workshops but I live in California, if you ever decide to have any out here, please let me know.

Once again, outstanding work, I love my 7D too!
