This shows the cleanup process and detailing for an outfit element of a character.
Since this is a detailed image, the idea is to isolate components and clean them up separately.
While doing so it is a good idea to keep an eye on time, as it is easy to get too involved and spend too much time on a detail.
The video is playing at 1x speed to give a good sense of the process involved.
Steps involved :
- Laying a 80% opacity layer of medium grey (#bbbbbb) on top of the loose sketch. This acts like a piece of velum paper.
- Lineart is made on another layer, using two brushes : a thick one to outline the design, and a thin one for details within the main shapes.
- A flat, hard edged round brush is used to fill in the shapes underneath the lineart.
- The velum layer is removed.
