A special trip with my Special brother
My older brother, Hank, is visually impaired and developmentally disabled. At almost 60 years old, he is childlike, completely honest, without any guile, and incredibly cheerful. He's incredibly sensitive to the moods and emotions of people around him, so if others are happy, he's happy, too.
This video documents a road trip the two of us took from Ohio to Ontario, Michigan, and Indiana. Whenever there was a decision to make, I let him make it. As a result, the destinations and activities are his preferences, not mine.
I hope that this film will inspire anyone who lives or works with developmentally-disabled individuals to better see their strengths and gifts, not their weaknesses.
