If the client is happy at the end of the event, it was successful! So, besides the food tasting great and the booze flowing freely, what is happening behind the scenes to ensure a happy customer?
Sometimes an event requires attention outside of the realm of your company's scope of business. For instance, we had a DJ announce dinner 45 minutes too early at a wedding. Our team had those valuable minutes planned out to the second but were thrown when they immediately lost all that prep time. We of course recovered but it didn't go unnoticed.
The Lesson: Speak with the head of each different aspect of the event. Let them know your plans, timeline, etc. and vice versa. There may not be a coordinator for the event but why blame it on that when you can ensure smooth sailing with a few quick meetings. It can't hurt to communicate more and the client will never even know this extra attention to detail saved possible trouble.
Your staff can work hand in hand with the entire group of vendors and the client can focus on the festivities!
