The Fulton County Teen Artists Academy is an intensive four-week summer arts program for student artists ages 13-18. The Academy was established at the Southwest Arts Center 2006 with the intent of reaching an underserved teen population.
Teen Artists Academy students use their life experiences and raw emotion to create and develop original works of visual art, creative writing, dramatic performances, dance and original music compositions. During the culminating performances audiences are able to see glimpses into the life of talented young people who immerse themselves in the art making process.
This year’s production, The Exchange, focused on exploring the truth of how the ideas we conceive often turn into misconceptions and how we often find ourselves defending the transparency of our intentions. The teens examined their personal ways of expressing individuality and what happens when family, friends, community and the outside world misperceive intentions.
