The railway that connects Tirano to St. Moritz, crossing the Bernina Pass, is among the highest and more evocative ones in Europe. Through the 22 Km that separate Tirano from Ospizio Bernina (the highest part of the track) the train crosses a 1800 meter vertical descent. Activated in 1908, the Bernina railway runs every day of the year, without stops due to snow or ice.
