We use our arcane knowledge of celluloid, along with rocket-science tools, to evaluate and select archival film elements, transfer them to digital, dust bust, de-noise, and restore color. Here are a few samples of recent ZAP restoration projects.
From 1956, "In an Ancient Village," a 16mm Kodachrome narrative film of an 8-year old boy's daily life in TEPETLAOXTOC, MEXICO. (Courtesy John Bourne)
From 1985, "Choosing Children," a documentary film exploring the then-almost-unheard-of idea that lesbians and gay men could have children — after coming out. (Courtesy Debra Chasnoff and Kim Klausner.)
