Welcome to our continuing study of the book of Proverbs. In this lesson, we will briefly inspect literary units four and five of Proverbs, taking us from 24:23 up to 29:27. This will leave us with two more lessons in this series. Each remaining lesson will cover one chapter of Proverbs and each lesson will study two literary units outlined by Biblical scholars.
For this lesson, we leave behind unit three of Proverbs located between 22:17-24:22. It is a literary unit often associated with the international proverbial wisdom of Amenemopet – an Egyptian. We come now to the fourth literary unit of Proverbs. This short unit of only twelve verses is located at the end of chapter 24:23-34. It begins with a title in the original manuscripts that says “Further Sayings of the Wise” that comes from the first line of verse 23.
