Why Reform?

Many Christians around the world are celebrating “Reformation Sunday” this week. On October 31, 1517 Martin Luther nailed the 95 Theses on the church door for everyone to see. His concern was that the message of the gospel had been replaced by a righteousness earned by good works and ritual. Re-forming the church is a never ending process, because sinful people constantly try to attain their own righteousness through good works instead of through Christ. Every person constructs their own “idols” that must be continually torn down, and replaced with Jesus, our only Savior from sin.
