The 2009 Great Brewers Gran Prix of Gloucester started out on Saturday 10/03/09 with torrential rains. the grass at Stage Fort Park quickly got churned into a soupy mud making the long, steep run-up by the water even more of a challenge. The rain continued through the entire day tapering at times to slightly less torrential. The Great Brewers Beer tent provided shelter from the elements while still being able to see the race.
Day 2 started out with a thick fog, a common site in historic Gloucester Harbor. The mud from the previous day changed from a soupy consistency to more of a peanut butter texture weighing down everyones bikes. The morning fog slowly burned away and by the time the mens elite race started the sky was a clear blue. At the end of the day it was hometown hero Tim Johnson(Cannondale/Cyclocrossworld.com) who beat out the previous days winner Jonathan Page (planet Bikes) who held on for 2nd and Tim's teammate Jeremy Powers (Cannondale/cyclocrossworld.com) coming in third.
For the women it was Natasha Elliott (Garneau Club Chaussure Ogilvy) winning both in the mud on Saturday and in the sun on Sunday.
