My entry for the Weekend Project: Black Transitions.

**update** Vimeo has picked "Offside" as the winner of the weekend project.

Thanks to everyone for your kind comments. It was a little tricky to get all the transitions on camera, but I always love a good challenge.

Shot with the Canon EOS 7D with a Nikon 28mm f2.8 manual lens.

Song "HFM" by Ghostland Observatory.

nice work but I really love the cat!
  • Yes, the cat was like dealing with Brando. He does whatever he wants, you just shoot it. He needs no direction.

Absolutely a great touch, best pet acting I've seen in a long time. I added your video to the Pets group it's so cool.
  • Thanks! He was the one actor with complete freedom on his scene. I'm sure he'll be thrilled to join the other actor pets in your group!

hi... i want to buy 7D too... i have a lot of Nikon lenses. How did you attach nikon to 7d?what adapter did you use ?
  • I used an EOS to Nikon adapter from fotodiox.com
It's a small hassle to put on and to remove the adapter on the go but the price is pretty low so that you can have multiple adapters already on the lenses ready to go.

Cool man, but you needed to work more on the television tracking.
  • I agree completely, the tracking was very sub par. I just didn't have any time left, the entry was 3 minutes away from not meeting the deadline.

    your overall pacing is brilliant.

if only you were a Liverpool FC fan...
  • Thanks Chris! And if I was a Liverpool fan, I would've been hugely disappointed with today's result against the Gunners ;)

Excellent Work. Favorite transition would have to be from parking garage to outside.
  • Thanks Jeremy! It was challenging but fun to stitch all those shots together.

I really liked the opening and the first minute of it. That could be used for a good action indie flick, I think. I am not so sure about the second part although reaction to offside call made me smile. I really liked the music, sound, and transitions!
  • Thanks for the comment. I agree the first part was better paced and edited, but I also wanted to tell a story within this project and all of this while keeping to the rules of the project (all camera transitions). In other circumstances I would've shot the last part in a different way, maybe more edits and close ups to raise the tension of not knowing what's going on. But I wanted to stay truth to the premise of the project. Thanks!

  • Gracias Frank, si la verdad ya no me quedaba ni un segundo mas para editar, estuve a 3 minutos de no entrar al "Weekend Project"
