THE WBC CONVENTION WAS CLOSED HAVING HAD ALMOST 600 ATTENDANTS

World Boxing Council President, Jose Sulaiman closed today the working sessions of the 47th WBC Annual Convention in an optimistic atmosphere due to all the agreements reached and an attendance considered much more than acceptable, having had 547 attendants that came from other countries, and a total of 592, taking local ones into account.
Among those in attendance, there were 39 promoters from 20 countries as well as 104 ring officials.
The different people in charge of the Committees made public their respective reports of their works throughout the year and all of them received a big round of applause because of the fact that the work done was truly brilliant and positive.
WBC members such as Jill Diamond (WBC Cares), Luis Escalona (Safety Committee), Italian Dr. Mario Sturla, representing the Medical Committee, and Hubert Minn, representing all ring officials, made public the achievements in the fields they are in charge of, and all the previously mentioned people were given they recognition they deserve for their work.
WORLD TITLE FIGHTS
SANCTION FEES

After a presentation that left no doubts about they need to guarantee the world title fights sanction fees, it was agreed that the WBC shall be paid in the future, either cash or through a credit letter 15 days before the bouts and if that does not happen, the fights will not be sanctioned as world title fights by the World Boxing Council.
When mentioning amounts, American promoter Bobby Goodman made a remark, saying that the WBC shall not resign itself to charge less than what shall be paid and he pointed out that 3% is a reasonable amount. For minimum promotions a lower fee can be established.
THE 2011 CONVENTION
WILL BE HELD IN TURKEY

After confirming that the next Convention will be held in a Mexican city (Cancun, Mexico City or Puerto Vallarta), it was approved that the meeting to be held in 2011, takes place in Antalya, Turkey. However the host city could be changed to the Turkish capital, Istanbul. The decision will be announced in some weeks.
HELP FOR THE PHILIPPINES

During today´s meeting, Eric Buhain was given the amount of $ 9, 500 USD, which was gathered by WBC members, in order to aid people who were affected by a typhoon that recently struck the Philippines. Buhain, visibly moved, promised that as soon as he arrives in his country, he will give the money to those people who handle the help center that is aiding all the affected ones.
ADDITIONAL NEWS

Gabriel Peñagaricano and Robert Lenhardt were appointed, directly by President Sulaiman to try to get an interview with the President of the United States, Barak Obama, and if they do it, request that Michael Nunn, former Supermiddleweight champion, be forgiven as he was sentenced to 25 years in prison for possession of cocaine. It was said that Nunn deserves help as he is a good man. Regarding another topic, Gabriel Peñagaricano III, of Puerto Rico, in attendance in this Convention, was appointed WBC Legal Committee Chairman. It was informed that all the fighters who take part in regional title bouts, will be included in the insurance policy in a measure that is similar to the one that has been established for WBC world title fights. In the near future, champions as well as their challengers will hand in, after the bout, their bandaging to the WBC Supervisor. It was also informed that the WBC will begin a program named WBC Boxing Gyms as of this last Convention; a franchise that was approved for Mexico. There will also be energizing drinks with the support of the WBC; it was recommended that it not have any kind of substance that can be considered stimulant or drug; not only will it be for boxers, but also anyone will be able to drink it.


TERMINO HOY LA CONVENCION CMB, QUE TUVO CASI 600 ASISTENTES

El presidente del Consejo Mundial de Boxeo, José Sulaimán cerro hoy los trabajos de la Convención Anual 47 del organismo en un entorno optimista por todos los acuerdos que se tomaron y una asistencia que se considero mucho mas que aceptable, con 547 elementos externos en un total de 592, si consideramos a los locales.
Entre los presentes hubo 39 promotores de 20 países y 104 oficiales de ring.
Los diversos encargados de comités dieron a conocer sus respectivos reportes de su trabajo en el año y todos fueron aplaudidos porque en verdad fue brillante y positivo el trabajo que realizaron.
Elementos como Jill Diamond (WBC Cares), Luis Escalona (Comité de Seguridad), el Comité Medico representado por el doctor italiano Mario Sturla, Hubert Minn por los oficiales de ring, dieron a conocer los logros dentro de los espacios que manejan y a todos ellos se les concedió el reconocimiento que merecen por su trabajo.

CUOTAS DE SANCION
PARA PELEAS TITULARES

Después de una exposición en la cual no quedaron dudas sobre la necesidad de asegurar las cuotas de sanción de peleas se acordó que el CMB deberá obtener en el futuro el pago en efectivo o una carta de crédito 15 días antes de las peleas y en caso de que no sea así, no se reconocerán los eventos como titulares por el Consejo Mundial de Boxeo.
Al mencionar cantidades, el promotor estadounidense Bobby Goodman comento que el CMB no debe conformarse con cobrar menos de lo que le corresponde y señalo que el 3 % es un monto razonable. Para promociones mínimas se podrá establecer una cuota mas baja.

EN TURQUIA LA
CONVENCION 2011

Tras corroborar que la Convención del ano próximo tendrá como sede una ciudad mexicana (Cancún, Ciudad México o Puerto Vallarta), fue aprobado que la reunión de 2011 se lleve a cabo en Antalia, Turquía. Esto ultimo puede cambiar a la capital turca, Estambul, lo que se dará a conocer en las próximas semanas.

AYUDA PARA
FILIPINAS

Durante la reunión de hoy le fue entregado a Eric Buhain la cantidad de 9 mil 590 dólares, reunidos por miembros del CMB para ayuda de damnificados que dejo recientemente un tifón en las Islas Filipinas. Buhain, visiblemente emocionado, prometió que en cuanto arribe a su patria, pondrá ese dinero en manos de quienes se hallan en el centro de la ayuda para toda la gente que resulto perjudicada.

OTRAS NOTAS

Fueron nombrados Gabriel Peñagarícano y Robert Lenhardt directamente por el presidente José Sulaimán para que intenten una entrevista con el presidente de Estados Unidos, señor Barak Obama, y si lo logran, solicitar que perdone al ex campeón mundial de peso medio, Michael Nunn, sentenciado a 25 anos por posesión de cocaína. Se comento ahí que Nunn merece la ayuda porque es un buen hombre… Cambiando de tema, Gabriel Peñagarícano III, presente en esta convención y originario de Puerto Rico, fue nombrado Presidente del Comité Legal del Consejo Mundial de Boxeo… Se informo que todos los participantes en peleas por títulos regionales, serán incluidos en la póliza de seguro en una medida similar a lo que se estila en los encuentros por campeonatos mundiales CMB… En el futuro próximo, tanto los campeones como sus retadores harán entrega –cuando terminen sus peleas- de sus vendajes al representante del CMB. También fue informado que el CMB iniciara un programa llamado Gimnasios de Boxeo CMB a partir de esta convención. Una franquicia que fue aprobada para México… También habrá bebidas energéticas con el respaldo del CMB. Se hizo la recomendación de que tenga ningún tipo de sustancia que pueda considerarse estimulante o droga. Será no solo para boxeadores, sino que podrá ingerirlo cualquier persona.
