This is a "Travel Exchange" television episode of the "Rossi Family Roots - Reppia, Liguria, Italy" that was hosted and narrated by Joseph Rossi of Rogue Valley Community Television at Southern Oregon University in Ashland, Oregon (aired in 1997). The video footage was partly narrated by the late Captain Dino A. Rossi (Joe's father) who passed away in 1999. Some portions of the program show family (Antonio Rossi, son of Luigi Rossi, who is the son of Antonio Rossi Sr.) and friends (Eliseo Gardella of Trattoria Dei Pescatori - Santa Margherita, Liguria) who still live in Liguria, Italy today (although their present circumstances may have changed), and footage of Chiavari, Liguria, Italy where most of the Rossi Family business was conducted in years past. Video footage also shows Rossi Family ancestral property and history surrounding the Reppia area. This Rossi family lineage starts with Guiseppe and Giulia (Sivori) Rossi of Reppia, Liguria, Italy (circa 1860), then to their two sons Antonio Sr. and Angelo Sr. who came to the California gold fields around 1857 (Volcano, CA.). Angelo Sr.'s son, Angelo Rossi Jr., later became the Mayor of San Francisco from 1931-1944. Guiseppe (son of Antonio Sr.) and Chiara (Rao of Moneglia, Liguria, Italy) Rossi (immigranted with family to the USA in 1929) settled in San Francisco, where they raised their five children (all born in Reppia) - Antonio (Tony), Paula, John, Dino, and Louise (oldest to youngest). Antonio (Tony) Rossi eventually became the Mayor of Milbrae, CA, while Dino became the Captain of the Matson Lines luxury cruise liner, the Lurline. John Rossi, who taught for 27 years in the Orinda/Moraga (CA) school district, passed away on February 10, 2012, at 93 years old - the last of his brothers and sisters. Several generations of children and grandchildren (from Antonio Sr. and Angelo Sr.) still live in the San Francisco Bay Area today - some are scattered throughout the West Coast of the US.
